About YCR-index
YCR is based on the OpenAlex
dataset of scientific articles' metadata.
We take Y (year) directly from the metadata. We calculate C (citations) by
counting through the whole dataset.
The dataset is currently updated once a year on our side.
R (relative) portion of YCR is currently calculated by an independent implementation
of the RCR algorithm
with important changes:
- Calculations of IFs (impact factors) of journals are based on open data, which means transparency. Original RCR relies on imported IFs from a commercial provider.
- Calculations take into account all relevant cross-linked articles from open data. Original RCR relies on PubMed-indexed articles only.
We are planning more tweaks and fine-tuning to the R (relative) portion of YCR,
aiming at more precision in the Cancer Research field(s).
We'll consider expanding YCR to broad BioMedical later. As well, we plan to add
more algorithmic portions to YCR in next phases of development.
